Rhein-Getriebe meets medical engineering

Our R&D project in the medical field concerns the movement of computer tomographs to achieve the highest possible positioning accuracy for radiation procedures.

Step 1: Investigation & definition
Special requirements set for these gears:
(1) Highest precision in the positioning of the gantry (drum of the computer tomograph) for the exact repeatability and reproducibility of pictures
(2) Low vibration and minimum noise level for the well-being of the patient
(3) Absolute safety for patients and users – ensuring proper functioning of the gantry brake mechanism in case of emergency

Step 2: Design & prototype
Features of our "low-vibration self-braking precision gear“:
(1) precise movement and positioning of the gantry
(2) use of innovative material combinations
(3) use of optimal lubricants

Step 3: Production & logistics
(1) The assembly is especially light and ensures capacity savings in production and logistics.
(2) In addition, the use of materials is resource-saving, requiring less transport.
(3) The assembly of light components ensures better safety at work.
(4) The gears are easy to maintain and environmentally friendly. In addition, we achieve a weight reduction by removing outdated components.
